CANADA – World’s largest conference on gender equality, health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women, “The Women Deliver 2019 Conference” held Monday, as more than 8,000 world leaders, influencers, advocates, academics, activists, and journalists gathered in Vancouver, Canada.
The conference focused on power, and how it can drive – or hinder – progress and change; and how societies must redefine the concept of ‘power’ and use it as a force for good.
While the Women Deliver 2019 Conference and global dialogue will place a special emphasis on power, the conference offered solutions to fill the gap on a vast array of issues crucial to gender equality: economic empowerment, women and the environment, nutrition, education, political participation, preventing gender-based violence, health, including sexual and reproductive health and rights & human rights.
Meanwhile, it presented new knowledge, promote solutions and serve as a fueling station for accelerating action, including policy changes and investments for the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women and achieving a more equal world.
It came at a time when support for the empowerment of girls and women is more critical than ever in order to maintain and increase the gains in health, education, and economic participation of women, as well as close the existing gaps in reproductive rights and health care services that advances gender equality for women and girls in the developing world.
The conference kicked off on Monday by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau – a four-day summit where 20 percent of the delegates in attendance were youth.
