Members of the United States Congress are seeking to approve a bill issuing more visas for Afghan interpreters worked with US forces in Afghanistan.
The Congress, by adopting the bill, seeks to expedite the issuance of a Special Immigrant Visa for eligible Afghans within the year, as well as eliminate barriers in this regards.
In 2017, the US has granted some 4,000 SIV visas to eligible Afghans, which dropped by more than a half percent in 2018, issuing only 1,400 visas.
Meanwhile, in a controversial report by sources, the incumbent president Doland Trump will decrease the visa issuance by 60 percent in the year.
