KABUL (The Killid) – At least two loud explosion reported in PD10 of Shahr-e-Naw area in downtown Kabul, wounding nine people, local authorities confirmed.
Blasts sent smoke billowing above the scene and the sound of sporadic gunfire could be heard, which lasted until six in the evening.
Nusrat Rahimi, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Affairs, said clashes are still ongoing in Shahr-e-Naw area near the Counterpart International that is located close to the Attorney General’s Office – a global organization operating in Afghanistan since 2005.
He further said that at least five people, including one woman and a police officer, were killed, adding further 24 were landed in hospitals after the incident.
Taliban in a statement claimed responsibility for the attack, adding they have targeted the International organization.
Meanwhile, Rahimi said that Afghan security forces are detonating an explosive-laden vehicle of militants discovered close to the scene in Shar-e-Naw area of Kabul city, which marked the third blast.
Security forces are dispatched at the location and precautionary measures are being taken for controlling possible loss and threats.
Taliban and an Islamic State affiliate carry out frequent attacks in the capital, mainly in Northern Provinces of Afghanistan, often targeting the US-backed agencies and its security forces.
