Moscow to Host Multi-Nation Talks on Afghan Peace

Moscow will host a trilateral meeting on Afghan peace within the next two days between Russia, China and the United States, the Russian Embassy in Kabul said in a statement Tuesday.

The meeting is expected on April 25 at a special representatives’ level, according to the statement.

United States Special Envoy Zalmay Khalilzad – who has embarked on a multi-nation trip on peace in Afghanistan – is also said to attend the meeting.

Outcome of the recent Doha peace talks between the US representative and Taliban delegations will be discussed in the meeting, the embassy said, where Zamir Kaboluv will represent Russia.

Russia has said it is in favor of coordinating efforts for Afghan peace by Washington and Moscow so that the “interests of regional states and Afghanistan’s neighbors” are portrayed in peace-related meetings, local media reported.
