Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced himself the big victor of Israel’s 2019 election Tuesday night in a celebratory speech he made in front of Likud activists in Tel Aviv – a bid to set for record fifth term.
But, exit polls had predicted a tight race with no clear winner, prompting both Netanyahu, and Blue and White leader Benny Gantz to claim victory on Tuesday night.
“I started holding talks with the heads of the right-wing parties, our natural partners, tonight. Almost everyone publicly declared that they would recommend me [to President Reuven Rivlin] to form the next government. I intend to finish the task quickly in order to establish a stable national government,” he said, as state-print media quoted.
Netanyahu thanked his voters, calling the victory reflected Tuesday night’s exit polls an “immense feat, almost inconceivable… faced with biased media, under impossible conditions, the Likud grew dramatically!”
Benjamin Netanyahu, also “King Bibi”, has been Prime Minister of Israel for 13 years.
