Afghan Army Found Guilty of ‘War Crime’ in Germany

German court in Munich yesterday charged the 26-year-old Afghan army with committing war crime – who was accused of torturing “armed opposition fighters” during interrogation in 2014.

The suspects Ahmad Zuhair was arrested by Munich security police last year on December 25; and has been languishing behind the bar since then.

Based on the announcement by Federal Court of Germany, Zuhair, 26, is accused of torturing armed opposition fighters – in cooperation with three further forces – in late 2013 to early 2014, worst yet, threatening with electrical shock to death.

Meanwhile in 2014, Zuhair – including those under his authority – had hanged one of the opposition fighter’s commander on a butcher’s hook publicly in Paktia province.

At the court, suspect Zuhair in a short statement said he is proud of killing a commander for armed opposition fighter “like a donkey”, adding “this commander must have been hanged like a donkey as well.”
