SYRIA – At least one Turkish soldier was killed and another further wounded during an attack at their military base in northwest Syria, Turkish media reported.
Turkish Ministry of Defense said the attack was carried out by Kurdish militants over People’s Advocates Group in the Afrin district of northern Syria.
Last year, the Turkish soldier claimed, along with the Syrian rebels, the area had been cleared of Kurdish militants opposed to the Erdogan government.
Ankara denounced the PAG a terrorist group affiliated with Kurdistan Workers Party.
However, the PAG is considered one of the main US military allies battling IS in Syria.
