Mullah Mohammad Omar, the one who gave birth and identity to the world known terrorist group, “the Taliban”, is said to spent his last final years miles away from the US base in southern Afghanistan, according to a new research that contradicts the long-believed theories of the CIA.
Washington believed the notorious one-eyed leader had fled to Pakistan, but new research gainsays saying Omar was living in his home province of Zabul just miles away from a major Unites States base before his death in 2013.
Searching for the enemy, widespread controversies reported Omar’s death several times, while he was in fact being hidden and protected after the Taliban regime was overthrown in 2001.
New research shows that Omar, who has been living just miles away from the US military base in Southern Afghanistan, was switching shelter time to time as American troops started building “Forward Operating Base Lagman in 2004” – yet still surrounding the base.
He later moved to another building but soon after was displaced again, as Pentagon started constructing the “Forward Operating Base Wolverine that could accommodate up to a 1,000 US troops; American and British Special Forces as well were sometimes based.
Despite the fact, he as the most wanted terrorist person, Omar dared not to move away; rarely even going outside and often hiding in tunnels when the US planes flew over.
Omar’s Taliban militant ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001, and has waged anti-government insurgencies since then.
Mullah Mohammad Omar, who delegated effective Taliban leadership after 2001, appears to have acted as more of a spiritual leader, and the militant movement kept his death in 2013 secret for two years.
