Buhari Declared to Lead Nigeria for Next 4 Years

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has been declared the winner of presidential election with 6.9 million votes, while top challenger Atiku Abubakr has more than 5.3 million.
Despite widespread criticism that he had not delivered enough on his promises to fight corruption, insecurity and strengthening economy, President Buhari will lead Africa’s most populous country for the next four years.
It comes after a week delay on the presidential election. Even so, voting was marked by hours-long delays and deadly violence that observers said kept some people away from the polls.
His main challenger, Atiku Abubakar in a statement Tuesday night alleges that date form smart card readers used in election have been manipulated. Voters used the cards to help identify themselves at the polls.
Muhammadu Buhari, 76, of the All Progressives Congress party (APC) overtopping with at least 6.9 votes, is re-elected against 71 other presidential candidates.
Atiku Abubakar, 72, of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is former vice president and a business tycoon.
