Saudi Arabai appointed its first female ambassador to Washington on Sunday to serve its top diplomat in the United States.
Princess Reema bint Bandar Al Saud born in Riyadh to Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, where her father was Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Washington between1983-2005, faces a tough challenge in enhancing ties between the US and the Kingdom.
“I will work with God’s permission to serve my country, its leaders and all its children and I will spare no effort to that end,” Princess Reema wrote on Twitter after her appointment.
Her posting comes after the Saudi Arabia under Kind Salman and Prince Mohammad removed women driving ban in the kingdom last year.
Princess Reema attended George Washington University taking Bachelor of Arts degree in Museum studies, and returned to Riyadh after graduation.
