Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman ordered to free up to 2,107 Pakistani workers locked up in jail after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan made an appeal.
At least 2,107 Pakistani workers drooping in Saudi jails will be released, Pakistan’s information minister aired on Monday during Saudi crown prince’s visit to Islamabad.
Prince Mohammad Bin Salman (also known as MBS) visited Pakistan on Sunday, as he started his tour to South Asia and China.
Saudi Arabia on Sunday signed investment agreements with Pakistan worth $20 billion.
Pakistani workers locked up in jails seemingly is a sensitive issue in Pakistan, as perceptions depict the prisoners are mostly poor laborers who have no legal recourse.
Every year a huge number of Pakistani travel to the Middle East, mostly working on construction sites or as domestic helpers. The remunerations they provide is vital for their family back in the county.
Saudi officials have yet to comment on the Pakistani announcement of a prisoner release.
