American president Donald Trump said Daesh militants will be expelled from Syria and Iraq in a week.
“Their land is gone. It’s a big factor – their land is gone,” Trump told foreign ministers and other senior officials from 79 countries that have worked alongside the United States in fighting the militant group in Syria and Iraq.
Although the decision to withdraw its troops from Syria is finalized, the US will not have mercy on the remaining militants of this group, he added.
According to him, these militants are only gripping on a small percentage of Syrian territory declared “caliphate”.
In the meantime, Trump’s decision to withdraw US forces from Syria has prompted some criticism at home from Republican and Democratic lawmakers, who fear Daesh could regain its strength.
On Wednesday, representatives from at least 70 countries and five international organizations participated the international coalition on war against Daesh in the US capital.
