The Taliban group have captured the Bilcheragh district of Faryab province, local officials confirmed.
The provincial head of Faryab, Taher Rahmani told Killid that the Taliban group have also captured 40 Afghan security forces that the district security commander is also among them.
“The Bilcheragh district falls to Taliban around 2:00 am (local time) on Sunday,” Ramani said.
He noted the captured security forces were transferred to Koleyan area of Bilcheragh district.
However, Faryab security officials have refused to comment regarding the issue so far.
Rahmani added the Taliban militants are attempting to attack the Gerizwan district after the fall of Bilcheragh.
This is the third district of Faryab that falls to Taliban in the recent two months.
