Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said yesterday they will investigate the alleged rape of a five-year-old Afghan girl by three men in Iran last Wednesday.
The child and her refugee family live in Iran’s Isfahan province.
According to MoFA, on Wednesday the child was abducted by three men from outside her house and then raped.
Officials said when her family found her, she was in a serious condition and they took her to hospital where the doctors confirmed she had been raped.
MoFA spokesman Sebghat Ahmadi said a team from Afghanistan’s embassy in Iran will soon meet with the girl’s family in Isfahan.
“Afghan foreign minister personally followed up this issue. A few hours ago, he had a telephonic conversation with Afghan ambassador in Tehran and asked the ambassador to investigate the issue,” said Ahmadi.
The girl’s family said she is now home but has been badly traumatized.
