Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on Friday left Kabul for Turkey to attend extra-ordinary summit of the Orgnaisation of Islamic Countries (OIC).
A press release from Presidential Palace (ARG) stated that President Ghani participated in the meeting regarding Jerusalem, summoned by the OIC.
Joining the rest of the Islamic countries, the Afghan government in reaction to President Trump’s decision, said that it is deeply concerned regarding the move and can understand the concerns of the Afghan people and the Muslims of the world.
The statement added that the decision has hurt the feelings of the Muslims of the world which could endanger the peace process in the Middle East.
Leaders of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states arrived in Istanbul on May 18 to attend the summit to show solidarity with the Palestinian people and to denounce the relocation of the United States Embassy to Jerusalem, as well as the Israeli attacks that killed over 60 civilians in protests on May 14.
Turkish media reported that representatives from more than 40 countries, including presidents, prime ministers and other high level officials took part in the event.
Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akıncı, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, Jordanian King Abdullah II, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz are among the attendees.
