National Security Advisor (NSA) Hanif Atmar and Commander of United States Central Command, General Joseph Votel discussed the ongoing fighting season in Afghanistan and neutralizing terrorists’ plans.
A press release from National Security Council (NSC) stated that both security officials talked about terrorism and capabilities of the Afghan ground and air forces.
Eradication of terrorist plans for the ongoing fighting season and enhancing capabilities of the Afghan forces for ‘target attacks’ also came up for discussion, the statement said.
The Afghan NSA informed the visiting US military delegation regarding Afghan forces’ preparedness for the ongoing fighting season and stressed over more air support from the Resolute Support (RS) mission.
Gen. Votel assured Atmar of continued support with the Afghan security forces in different areas.
He said all areas of support with Afghan forces would be reviewed and immediate steps would be taken to support them.
Both the sides discussed regional security situation in detail, in addition to peace talks with the Taliban and effectiveness of the US strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia was also reviewed in the meeting.
