Security officials in Faryab said that at least seven civilians were killed and one injured in a roadside mine blast in Almar district of the province.
Abdul Karim Yorish, spokesman for Faryab police, said that the incident happened this morning when a number of shopkeepers were on their way from Maimana, provincial capital, to Khoja Gawhar area of the district.
He added that their vehicle hit a Taliban roadside mine.
Taliban militants are yet to comment.
