Local officials in Badakhshan said that six Taliban insurgents were killed in a Taliban attack on centre of Tashkan district.
Brigadier Mohammad Naem Mujadadi, commander of Pamir 20 Division in Badakhshan, said that five policemen were also killed in the attack which happened on Saturday morning.
He added that a number of Taliban insurgents were also injured in the attack.
Taliban militants are yet to comment.
