Security officials reported that 35 Taliban insurgents have been killed and 40 injured in Afghan security forces’ operation codenamed ‘Walid 5’ in Charbolak district of Balkh province.
They said that some 1,000 armed anti-government fighters have presence in the district.
Mohammad Hanif Rezaee, spokesman for Shaheen 209 Military Corps, told Killid that Taliban hideouts were destroyed in the district and a large amount of weapons were also seized.
Rezaee added that five Afghan security members have been killed and 13 injured during the operations.
Taliban militants are yet to comment.
