Afghan President Ashraf Ghani met with US under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Thomas Shannon in Tashkent yesterday.
A press release from ARG (Presidential Palace) stated that both sides discussed Tashkent conference on Afghanistan, peace process, and the United States’ engagement and support to Afghanistan.
The statement added that Ghani told Shannon that the new US strategy for South Asia and Afghanistan has been effective and will bring about positive changes in Afghanistan and the region.
The statement further stated that Shannon added that the United States is committed to supporting the Government of Afghanistan in its pursuit of peace and commends the Afghans’ Central Asian neighbors’ leadership.
