At least eight Taliban fighters were killed and nine injured in a joint military operation conducted by Afghan National Army (ANA), National Police, and public uprising forces in Pashtoon Kot district of Faryab last night.
Karim Yorush, spokesman for Faryab police, told Killid that the operation started at 10 pm last night and lasted for four hours in which four villages were cleared of Taliban insurgents.
Pashtoon Kot is one of the biggest districts of Faryab which has more than 320 villages.
Taliban militants are yet to comment.
