Local officials in Uruzgan province said that 17 Taliban insurgents were killed and some others were injured in airstrikes conducted by Afghan security forces in Chora district yesterday.
Ahmad Fazili, acting provincial police spokesman, told Killid that the strikes targeted Taliban hideouts in the district.
He added that there were no civilian casualties.
Taliban militants are yet to comment on the statement.
