President Ashraf Ghani met Australian Defense Minister Marise Payne yesterday afternoon where they discussed bilateral ties and other mutual interest issues.
A press release from ARG (Presidential Palace) stated that the two sides talked about expanding bilateral cooperation, counter-terrorism and training of Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.
The Australian minister said her country is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in providing higher education for Afghans, especially in military sector, read the statement.
She said her country supports Afghanistan’s strategy in peace, counter-terrorism and expansion of cooperation in the region.
The minister said Australia will continue its support and cooperation with Afghan government and people.
According to the statement, President Ghani said he commends the Australian government’s support to Afghanistan.
He said the Defense Ministry will follow the plan to receive Australia’s help in military trainings.
