Two lovers, Sadeq 25-year old and Fatima 20-year old, committed suicide by consuming poison in Hazar Qeshlaq area of Sozmaqala District of Sar-e-Pul province yesterday evening.
Zabiullah Amani, spokesman for Sar-e-Pul governor, told Killid that the boy and girl loved each other but families opposed their marriage. They were unable to bear separation and ended their lives.
Domestic violence, poverty, and strict traditional customs are being often cited as the main reason behind such incident in the county.
