Wali Jan Sherzad, 33, a resident of Sherzad district of Nangarhar province, who currently lives in Pul-i-Charkhi area on the eastern outskirts of Kabul City, has invented a water heater that can boil 100 litres of water in less than two hours.
He made the heater with the help of iron, wood, glass and other things. Sherzad studied school till class eight and is currently working as a mechanic.
He said that he had so far made 12 water heaters in the past two years. He has named his innovation as “Sherzad Solar Water Heater.”
Sherzad said he had been thinking about inventing a water heater which could get energy from the Sun because most people in Afghanistan lacked access to hydroelectricity.
He said if weather was clear his heater could boil 100 litres of water in one hour and could heat up 100 litres in two hours in a cloudy weather.
Sharifullah, a resident of the area, said he had been using Sherzad solar water heater for the last two months and found efficient.
