Mullah Samad, Taliban commander, was arrested and five Taliban insurgents were killed or injured in a joint security forces’ operation in Shendand district of Herat.
Jailani Farhad, spokesman for Herat governor, told Killid that three Taliban insurgents were killed and two injured during the operation.
The insurgents had affiliation with Mullah Najib and Mullah Samad, Taliban commanders.
Farhad added that the operation will continue until the area is cleared of insurgents.
