Gulajan Abdulbadi Sayyad has been elected as the head of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in a poll that was carried out by the members of the commission.
Sayyad told Killid that the polling was held this morning.
Sayyad was previously the spokesman for the IEC.
Wasima Badghisi has been appointed as the operational deputy of the commission and Maazullah Dawlati as the financial and administrative deputy of the IEC.
The former head of the election commission, Najibullah Ahmadzai, was sacked by President Ashraf Ghani in November.
