Wais Ahmad Barmak, interior minister, said it seems the attack on Intercontinental hotel in Kabul might have been planned months ago and attackers have been assisted by insiders.
He added the hotel’s security was assigned to a private security company three weeks ago.
The minister also claimed the deadly attack was planned by the Haqqani Network.
Najib Danish, spokesman for Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI), said that 18 civilians were killed and 10 others including four civilians were injured.
Danish added that 14 of those killed were foreign citizens.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
