Mohammad Aref Shah Jahan, Farah governor, said that Afghan security forces have seized Russian-made weapons, including night vision sniper scopes from Taliban.
Shah Jahan added that night-vision goggles allow users to see in low-light conditions and effectively zero-in on a target without being seen.
He further stated that Taliban militants using sophisticated night-vision goggles have killed dozens of Afghan security forces.
Meanwihle sources in the Farah provincial council said that over 100 Afghan security forces were killed in the province over the past week and claimed that it is possible that the province might collapse to Taliban.
Reports indicate that the Taliban has been positioned in Gengan area in north of Farah city and this has raised concerns among Farah residents.
