Local officials in Maidan Wardak said that 15 Taliban insurgents including Maulavi Fayaz and Maulavi Gul Amin were killed and one arrested in a clearing operation conducted by Afghan forces in Sayed Abad district.
Naqib Amini, spokesman for Maidan Wardak police, told Killid that the operation is being led by provincial police Chief Gen. Fahim Qayem and Gen. Adul Raqaz, commander of 4th division of Afghan National Army (ANA) to clear the areas of insurgents.
He added so far 20 villages have been cleared of insurgents.
Amini further stated that one army soldier and one special unit police were killed and two other security members were injured.
