Noor Lashes Out at Abdullah

Addressing a gathering in northern Balkh province to commemorate the death anniversary of ex-Mujahedeen commander Zabiullah today, Atta Mohammad Noor, former governor of Balkh, lashed out at Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and said that Jamiat-e-Islami party made a huge mistake backing him during elections.

“Abdullah is a snake in everyone’s sleeve,” Noor said.

Regarding his removal from governor’s office, he said that he had not been appointed by “official letters (decree)” and could therefore not be fired by “letters”.

Noor, indirectly referring to Abdullah, also noted that the party had the right to change its candidate

He also said that he would remain as Balkh governor until Jamiat party decide about his fate.

Noor further stated that ARG (Presidential Palace) and the CEO’s office must not use the international community and foreign forces to put pressure on him.

ARG refused to comment about Noor’s remarks whereas Javid Faisal, deputy spokesman at CEO office, wrote on his Facebook page, “There is really a moral crisis!”

Meanwhile Kabir Ranjbar, head of Afghanistan lawyers’ union, said that appointment and dismissal of government officials is the authoring of the president, but what the parties have agreed on, there is nothing in the law about it.

Mohammad Nazer Ahmadzai, second deputy at Wolesi Jirga (lower house of parliament), in today’s house session said that the law must be applied equally to all.
