At least five Taliban insurgents including Mullah Samad, Taliban deputy governor for Herat, were injured and 18 others were killed in an Afghan security forces’ airstrike in Farah province.
A press release from Zafar 207 Corps stated that the insurgents were targeted in Naldasht area of Khassafed district while they were planning for a destructive operation.
The statement added that Mullah Samad was seriously injured and Mullah Lal, a prominent Taliban commander, was killed.
Meanwhile some local sources in Herat said that they have received reports of Mullah Samad’s death.
Taliban militants are yet to comment.
