NATO Special Operators Prepare for Deployment to Afghanistan

NATO special operators participated in the 28th iteration of the Resolute Support Mission Special Operations Forces pre-deployment training course in Mons, Belgium, Dec. 4-15, 2017. The course provides NATO SOF shared understanding of the NATO Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan current operation and staff procedures.

“The pre-deployment training is an essential component in preparing NATO SOF for their future assignments with NSOCC-A,” said a NSOCC-A primary staff member. “With an increased commitment of NATO partners and the Afghan government’s investment in doubling the size of the Afghan Special Security Forces, conducting this thorough training is a critical piece of the NSOCC-A integration program.”

Currently 15 NATO partner nations support the Resolute Support SOF train, advise, and assist mission. The success of the ASSF is tied to the NSOCC-A SOF TAA at the brigade and below level.

“After 16 years, Afghanistan remains a dynamic environment,” the NSOCC-A primary staff member said. “The NATO SOF attending the pre-deployment training will complete the training with the ability to immediately integrate into the team upon arrival to the command.”
