A five-day polio campaign will begin in Kabul, southern provinces, southwest provinces, and other parts of the country and will run until Friday.
Mer Jan Rasekh, head of public awareness centre at national anti-polio programme, said that the campaign will immunise 6 million children under the age of five.
According to the figures, 12 polio cases had been registered in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria are the only countries where polio is still prevalent.
