India to Host Afghanistan for First Ever Test Match

The Board of Control for Cricket India (BCCI) has decided to host Afghanistan for a first ever test match in the future.
The decision was made during BCCI’s Special General Meeting (SGM) that was held on December 11, and was announced to the public by Amitabh Chaudhary, BCCI’s Joint Secretary.
Indian media reported that the dates of the historic Test will be chalked out later.
“Afghans were scheduled to play their first Test in 2019 versus Australia but considering the historic relationship between India and Afghanistan, we decided to host their first Test,” said BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary.
India will be hosting 81 matches across formats from 2019-2023, 30 more than the current Future Tours Programme (FTP).
Afghanistan and Ireland joined the ranks of other full-Test playing nations after the ICC had backed them in June this year, permitting them to join the elite list that plays five-day Tests.
Ireland will play their first Test match against Pakistan in May.
