Provincial officials of Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) in Bamyan reported that violence against women has doubled in the province.
Hakima Alizada, acting head of AIHRC in Bamyan, said that the violence against women has doubled over the past ten months compared to previous years.
She added that 140 cases of violence against women were registered in the province this year while the figure was 70 last year.
Alizada argued that rise of awareness among women, economic poverty, unemployment, and maladaptive practices were the main reason behind the rise of violence in the province and said that still the rate of violence against women was low compared to other provinces.
