PC Admin Board Polls Held in 31 Provinces

The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) said provincial councils elected their administrative boards for the fourth year in 31 provinces yesterday.
A statement from the IDLG said 31 provincial councils’ heads, secretaries and deputies were elected for one-year term.
The IDLG statement said significant and positive changes were noticed in this year’s board polls as about 37 percent women were elected.
Munira Yousufzada, IDLG spokesperson, said two women were elected as provincial council heads in Maidan Wardak and Daikundi, provinces.
Three women were elected as deputy heads in Takhar, Maidan Wardak, Paktika and another seven women were selected for secretary slots in Kabul, Zabul, Badghis, Daikundi, Maidan Wardak and Kunduz provinces.
She added 51 percent changes had occurred in provincial council chief positions, 62 percent in deputy head slots and 66 percent in secretary posts.
She further stated that Ghazni, Sar-i-Pul and Panshir provinces didn’t conduct the polls due to the absence of administrative clerks. “Election in these provinces will be conducted in coming days.”
