Local officials in Herat reported that 30 Taliban insurgents including five prominent commanders have been killed and 20 injured over the past two days.
Jailani Farhad, spokesman for Herat governor, told Killid that Afghan security forces have dealt a heavy blow to Taliban insurgents in the province.
Farhad added that Afghan security forces have launched air and ground operations in Shendand district to clear the areas of insurgents.
Farhad further stated that lots of areas were cleared of insurgents.
Taliban militants are yet to comment.
