Dozen Taliban Insurgents Killed in Faryab

Afghan Commandos from the Sixth Commando Kandak practices infiltration techniques using the Afghan National Army Air Corps Mi-17 helicopter on April 1 at Camp Morehead in the outer regions of Kabul. The training was in preparation for future air assault missions needed in order to disrupt insurgent activity and bring stability to the population and the region.

At least 12 Taliban insurgents were killed and four injured in Pashtoonkot district of Faryab. Security officials in the province said that the insurgents were killed and injured in an airstrike yesterday. In a separate incident eight people were injured in an explosion in Maimana, provincial capital of Faryab, yesterday evening. Officials at Faryab police commandment said that the explosion was caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
