Farah provincial council reported that Taliban insurgents captured Shibkoh district of the province. Jamila Amini, head of Farah provincial council, told Killid that Taliban stormed district centre last night. She said as reinforcements did not reach the area on time, the district collapsed to Taliban. She added that four policemen were killed and 11 injured during the clashes. Amini claimed that local officials were aware of Taliban offensive but did not adopt any defensive measure to counter the attack. Meanwhile Nasir Mehre, spokesman for Farah governor, rejected fall of the district. Mehre said that reinforcements have arrived and Taliban have fled the area.
