Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai said he will call on National Unity Government (NGU) to hold a consultative Loya Jirga, grand assembly of elders, on new US strategy for Afghanistan in a few days. He added that Afghans should decide and analyze US strategy by themselves through traditional Loya Jirga. Karzai further stated that the new US strategy is against the country’s national interest and against the will of regional countries. He said that there is no peace message in the strategy and it leads to more bloodshed. Earlier President Ashraf Ghani welcomed the new US strategy on Afghanistan during a visit with US President Donald Trump, saying that the decision unveils an enduring commitment by United States as a key partner of the Afghan government.
