At least six civilians were killed in a roadside bombing in Daman district of Kandahar province yesterday. Fazl Bari Baryalai, spokesman for Kandahar governor, told media that the bomb tore through a civilian truck loaded with flour on its way to Kandahar city. All six individuals onboard the truck were killed in the blast, he said, accusing militants of emplacing the improvised explosive device. Kandahar police spokesman Zia Durrani confirmed the incident and said that police had reached the area and had launched an investigation. The roadside bombing takes place in Kandahar after a lull in violence. Officials say police defuse dozens of landmines planted in public areas on a daily basis in Kandahar.
