Samiulhaq Sami, Afghan citizen, was selected for the prestigious 1st International Excellence Award for Service to Disabilities. The award was given to him today at the India International Centre (ICC) in Delhi by the Association of Educators and Allied Professionals and Association for Disabled people. The Award has been envisaged as a platform to recognise and celebrate those people committed to empowerment of persons with disabilities, special needs, community counseling and psycho-social development. The Award will recognise path breaking work in the fields of inclusive education and empowerment of persons with disabilities through interventions in accessibility, advocacy, employment, trainings, education, sensitization, sports and culture. It is reported that 275 people around the world applied for the AWARD, only 10 people were selected.
