Atta Mohammad Noor, governor of Balkh and leader of Jamiat-e-Islami Party of Afghanistan, spoke today at the first gathering of the new Coalition for the Rescue of Afghanistan, in Mazar-e-Sharif. Noor demanded unconditional return of First Vice President General Abdul Rashid Dostum to office. Noor also called on government leaders to set aside their egos and refrain from sparking discord among the people. The new alliance was formed by leaders from three mainstream Afghan political parties including Jamiat-e-Islami, the National Unity of People of Afghanistan and the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan early July. At the time they issued a draft resolution where they made various demands from government.
