Security officials in Faryab reported that Kohistan district fell to Taleban insurgents earlier today. Abdul Karim Youresh, spokesman for the provincial police said security forces are currently in Khair Abad village of the district, “which is about 1.5 kilometers far from the centre of the district.” Youresh said that Taleban insurgents attacked the district last night and public uprising group members retreated. Meanwhile Jawed Bedar, spokesman for Faryab governor, rejected the fall of the district centre and said that Taleban have only captured parts of the district which includes three villages. He added that an air operation will soon be launched to recapture the fallen villages. Meanwhile Taleban also confirmed that they captured the district.
