Eight defence ministry officials, including three generals, were arrested over charges of corruption and misuse of authority. Attorney General’s Office (AGO) said that they were arrested over charges of fraud, corruption, embezzlement and misuse of authority. According to AGO, they were accused of theft of over one million USD. It is reported that one of them was accused of the charges in the beginning but as the investigation proceeded more people were found accused of massive graft. The Anti-Corruption Court came into being last year to investigate serious graft charges against top government officials, including ministers and their deputies
