Local officials in Herat reported that 24 Taleban insurgents were either killed or injured in clashes with Afghan security forces in Shendand district. A press release from Herat governor’s office stated that the clashes happened in Cheshma area of the district in which 11 Taleban insurgents were killed and 13 injured. The statement added that Taleban suffered heavy casualties and were repulsed. The statement further stated that four policemen were also injured. Taleban militants are yet to comment on the statement.
