At least 11 people were killed in flash floods in Khak-e-Jabar and Sorubi districts of Kabul. Malik Rustam Esa, a resident of Sorubi district, said that flash floods caused by downpours hit Salam Khail area of the district, killing nine people. He added that the incident happened yesterday afternoon. He further stated that two people were killed in Mullaha village of the district as well. Residents of Sorubi said that the floods caused heavy property damage to schools, mosques, and residential houses in different villages of the district. Meanwhile flash floods have caused severe damage to people in Khak-e-Jabar district as well. Spring and summer months in Afghanistan commonly bring flash floods as result of heavy rains and the melting of snow and ice in the mountains.
