Afghan government announced that Pakistan does not have the right to the fence, construct new forts or border posts across the Durand Line. Pakistan yesterday announced that the construction of a border fence commenced Tuesday along the Durand Line on the direction of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Asif Ghafoor said the step is a part of operation Radd-ul-Fasaad and it will improve the security situation for both countries. “Measures to improve security situation along the Pak-Afg border continue,” he started. Meanwhile Najibullah Danish, spokesman for Afghan Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoI), said that the move could have grave ramifications. He pointed to the recent Afghan and Pakistani forces’ clashes in Spen Boldak, Kandahar, and hoped that Pakistan does not repeat its past violations again.
