One Dead, 10 Injured as Vehicle Crashes into Crowd Near London Mosque
A vehicle struck pedestrians near a mosque in north London early Monday morning, killing one man and injuring 10 people in what police are investigating as a terrorist incident. Police said the 48-year-old man who was driving the car has been arrested and taken to a hospital as a precaution. British media reported that the crash occurred shortly after midnight. Police said eight of the injured were hospitalised; the other two had minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Prime Minister Theresa May described the crash as a “terrible incident”. The statement from her office said her thoughts were with the injured, their loved ones and emergency services who responded to the scene. Earlier this month, a van deliberately veered into pedestrians on London Bridge, before heading to the nearby Borough Market where the two men in the van got off and attacked people with knives, killing a total of eight and wounding many others.
